2016 Trail Camera

Below I will post the small version of some of the interesting pictures with comments, click on the image for a full resolution version. You can also browse the raw archive grouped by year and date of download at: Trailcam Archive. The files with "(Small)" in the name are low resolution versions for quicker previewing, the others are the full files from the camera. I have it set to take 3 megapixel resolution at night and 10 megapixel during the day, and to take 3 pictures per trigger. The date and time plus temperature, barometer, and moon phase should be at the bottom of each picture. If you find something interesting that I didn't put below let me know, sometimes I don't look real close if I'm busy.

Previous year blogs are available on the Trail Cam Blogs annual index page which is also accessible from the link in the left side navigation bar.

Bottom

1/17 Another slow start on the trailcam... just one cute little guy in the last couple weeks. I did see a huge coyote while out walking along the road, it had to be near Pablo's size, around 75# or so.

Image

3/6 One fox keeps going back and forth, otherwise only this stray dog.

Image

3/13 Everyone suddenly is waking up. Lots of deer this week:

and a coyote

and a raccoon

Image

4/3 Just some more deer and fox and a cat back and forth.

4/24 Yes, the bears are awake!

Image

5/15 Another sighting of a bear and misc other stuff in the archive if you want to go look at them, but nothing special.

5/29 Some of the mallards that have been in the pond most of the spring wandered into the camera view this week. Then the battery went dead and turned all the nice green John Deeres that it caught red. Then the red geese came back.

Image

6/6 Busy week at the cam. Start off with a coyote.

Image

A family of geese... they had 5 little ones last time I saw them.

Image

This beaver has been coming to the pond for dinner. It has been tearing up cattails but not damming or building a lodge so it must be living back in the stream.

Image

Doe and fawn during the day.

Image

And finally Pablo and me on a green Deere going to do some work on an antenna.

Image

7/24 I took the camera down for a cleaning and to check the infra-red flash. There was some crud on the lens and on the flash window, but otherwise its looking good for being outside for several years now.

Lots of deer activity, including what could be a couple bucks already. Here is one buck who came in for a close up shot.

A bobcat??

Image

A calico cat.

Image

9/3 Sorry, been busy and the camera hasn't caught much except deer going back and forth. This week it got more interesting. Besides the deer this week I got 2 moose, not very good pictures, it was just at sunset and there wasn't enough light for daytime pics but the flash wasn't bright enough to help so its just these shadowy figures.

Image

And here is a whole family of raccoons!

Image

9/25 And here is Pablo's new friend Hank. Hank is a Treeing Walker Coonhound so he should like finding that family of raccoons that has been around.

Image

10/2 No update this week, battery went dead early last week so nothing but pictures of me and dogs.

10/9 Ooops... camera has same photos that should have been deleted last week. Something is wrong with SD card, swapped with the one in the controller and it seems to be working now.

10/16 Ok, back in service now... mostly. In switching the SD card the camera lost it's clock so the times are mostly wrong. There were lots of doe going back and forth this week. This one paused for a closeup.

Image

We had a bit of a traffic jam on the bridge when I took Dov 4Z4DX on a tour of the antennas.

Image

And here is a foggy buck.

Image

11/6 Active week, lots of deer and some coyote going back and forth. Two bucks had a bit of a fight for the camera also. Here is a still:

Image

And here is a Time Lapse Video of the whole thing.

11/22 Lots of deer and a coyote back and forth before it snowed. Looks like 2 or 3 different bucks wandering around now. Then it snowed... now Hank is having fun.

Image

12/11 Not much moving now, a few doe, a fox, a cat, and me. Here is a cat, followed a couple hours later by a dog... boy did he stick hard to that track! He really wanted to find that cat!

12/25 Nothing last week because the battery died. This week was just me and the dogs skiing because of the snow and other bad weather.
